Its high-tech construction puts <strong>Galician marine engineering<\/strong> at the forefront of the sector.<\/p>\n<p>With a marine-grade steel hull and an <strong>aluminium superstructure<\/strong>, manufactured by highly qualified AISTER staff, the ship has two main advantages: its <strong>lightweight<\/strong> marine-grade superstructure improves the ship\u2019s energy efficiency, giving it a <strong>range<\/strong> of 51 days and a top speed of <strong>16 knots<\/strong>, and the ship is designed as a platform for handling <strong>unmanned vehicles<\/strong> that can dive to depths of 1,000 m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3409\" src=\"https:\/\/aister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/superestructura-aluminio-oceanografico.jpg\" alt=\"Superestructura de aluminio oceanogr\u00e1fico BAP Carrasco\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/superestructura-aluminio-oceanografico.jpg 800w, https:\/\/aister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/superestructura-aluminio-oceanografico-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/superestructura-aluminio-oceanografico-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aister.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/superestructura-aluminio-oceanografico-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BAP Carrasco has been fitted out for research in Peruvian waters and the Antarctic, where the country\u2019s Machu Picchu scientific base is located. The Carrasco can sail for long periods with a crew of <strong>50 members and 60 technicians<\/strong>, facilitating major projects on the white continent. The ship is equipped with laboratories for hydrographic information, marine geology, oceanography and chemistry for studying samples, as well as a wet and dry laboratory for marine geology.<\/p>\n<h2>The aluminium superstructure of the C. 710<\/h2>\n<p>The superstructure weighs <strong>40 tonnes<\/strong> and comprises three large decks: tween deck, bridge and aerial platform constituted by the base of the aerial and the mast<\/p>\n<p>The ship\u2019s superstructure is manufactured from EN AW 5083 H 321 marine-grade aluminium alloy plate, which has a higher breaking load than the metal normally used to manufacture these parts (EN AW 5082 H 111).
