MZ12-C: The New Fisheries Inspection Patrol Boat for the Andalusian Government
In 2023, AISTER reached a new milestone with the delivery of the first units of the MZ12-C patrol boat, its vessel adapted for fisheries inspection duties.
Commissioned by the Andalusian Agency for Agricultural and Fisheries Management (AGAPA) through a public tender process, these vessels represent the latest evolution in the MZ range—a line of professional patrol boats fully developed by our shipyard and already established as a benchmark in their category.
The vessels—named Tartesos Uno, Dos, Tres and Cuatro—form part of the fisheries surveillance fleet of the Andalusian Government.
With this project, AISTER strengthens its position as a trusted provider of naval solutions for public security and maritime management agencies.
Technical Specifications
A Design Made for Action
The MZ12-C has been developed to provide immediate and effective response capabilities, even with a reduced crew. With an overall length of 11.38 metres and a beam of 3.5 metres, this patrol boat offers a combination of robustness, manoeuvrability, and high performance, making it ideal for operations requiring speed, endurance, and versatility.
Its deep-V aluminium hull is optimised for excellent hydrodynamics, capable of performing in challenging offshore conditions. Powered by two 350 HP Mercury Verado outboard engines, it can exceed 42 knots at top speed and maintain efficient cruising speeds of over 35 knots at 80% power and 70% load capacity.
Technology Serving the Mission
In terms of onboard systems, the MZ12-C features the most advanced technologies available for vessels in its class. Its fully enclosed walk-around cabin offers 360º visibility and is equipped with a modern control console that includes:
- Dynamic GPS positioning system
- Mercury JPO joystick control
- Autopilot
- Forward-looking sonar
- State-of-the-art communication systems
This setup allows for precise manoeuvring in tight spaces, simplifying docking directly from the helm and ensuring smooth operations even in busy ports or congested areas.
Additionally, the cabin includes air conditioning without the need for an auxiliary generator and is equipped with a toilet, significantly increasing both autonomy and crew comfort during extended missions.
Maximum Comfort and Functionality
Crew safety and comfort were top priorities in the design of the MZ12-C. The seats are fitted with pneumatic shock mitigation systems, ensuring smooth and safe navigation at high speeds or in rough seas.
On the working deck, the vessel is equipped with a 2 kN electric davit, ideal for hauling fishing gear during inspections and other operational tasks.
A Step Forward in Fisheries Inspection and Surveillance
The delivery of the MZ12-C units marks another important step in the ongoing collaboration between AISTER and public institutions tasked with marine environment oversight. With over 35 years of experience in the design and construction of professional aluminium vessels, AISTER continues to push forward with innovation, construction quality, and tailor-made solutions that meet the real-world needs of each client.
In a context of increasing demand for surveillance and sustainability in fishing grounds, the MZ12-C emerges as an effective tool for regulatory enforcement, resource protection, and maritime safety.
